Skye – Our School Therapy Dog

We’re thrilled to introduce our incredible school therapy dog, Skye, a gentle and friendly Golden Retriever, who has become a much-loved member of our school community! Skye has been carefully trained over the past four years to work with children, bringing tremendous benefits to their learning, confidence, and emotional well-being.

With her warm and calming presence, Skye offers valuable support for children in many ways. She helps make reading fun and engaging, as students read aloud to her, building both their reading skills and confidence. For children with special educational needs, Skye provides comfort and motivation, helping them feel more at ease and supported. Her interactions also teach all children important life lessons in empathy, kindness, and respect—qualities that Skye naturally brings out in everyone she meets!

To ensure the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and Skye herself, we have a comprehensive risk assessment in place. This includes guidelines on supervised interactions, hygiene practices, and making sure Skye has rest breaks to keep her happy and healthy. Skye’s safety and training standards mean that all her work is carefully managed, giving parents peace of mind.

We’re so grateful to have Skye with us, as she brings an irreplaceable joy and sense of calm to our school, enhancing our students’ experience every day!
